Die Wunden einer Muhme

Samantha Evans

The exhibition takes a look at analogue and digital photographic series that display pictorial concepts that are reminiscent of documentary, mythological, scientific or fairy-tale contexts, but which translate these into artistically individual and illusionistic visual worlds.
In the series "Conclusus" she shows multi-part groups of pictures in a humorous as well as somber way on aspects of gender-specific classifications of our society. Conclusus' captures women by night, glowing symbols of female empowerment emerging from the dark, no longer hiding.
Ritual of Merging' deals with our current times affected by the virus, throwing us into this uncertainty and symbolic night, and hopefully showing us ways to heal, to reconnect with our environment, and to wake up even stronger at a new dawn.
"corporealities" is rather a sober but emotional processing with the compensation to live in your own body even if often this body is not the shelter you wish for but can pull you into a cycle of worries and how to find peace with it.
