Dog Days are Over
Percy Walker-Smith
A documentation of the landscape and the people of North Wales in the period following the 'Dog Days' of 2019 (23rd July-23rd August 2019). The work explores the theme of identity of the people and surrounding landscape of Harlech, North Wales. The characters that I met, and the landscape that I found myself in made me think of how unknowingly diverse the United Kingdom is. I believe that this body of work will change the way that some people think about the country that we call our home. The work was made with medium format film, using a Hasselblad 500 with Kodak Tri-X 400 film.
Artist biography
Percy's photographic interest lies mainly in the documentation of people within their respectively diverse environments. Whilst studying Business and Management with Chinese at Sussex University, he has managed to take photographic jobs on from magazines such as DIY, as well as working directly with bands at gigs and festivals. As well as documenting the people within the Brighton and London music scene, Percy has a great interest in the obscure and interesting and will never been seen without a camera in hand; trying never to miss an interesting or so-called 'decisive moment'.
