Guitarscapes

Alan Barnes

This set of photographs is part of a bigger project where I explore the effects that time and playing have on the electric guitar. Natural erosion and performance scars are not always seen and appreciated by the naked eye. By delving deeper, a new world is unraveled, where it is hard to tell if the image is a microcosm or an area of land, rivers, deserts, or of another world!

Artist biography

Born in London, Alan has been playing guitar since the age of 13. Gigging around the SE and still writing songs. But a passion from an earlier age has been photography. “I always took a camera on family holidays and got a second-hand 35mm camera before my first guitar! So it has always been photography or music". This time it’s both.
