For the Brighton Photo Fringe 2010, Stephen Bull commissioned his avatar to photograph ‘New Brighton’, the simulation of Brighton within the online world Second Life. In the resulting images, exhibited online across a variety of platforms during 2010 as Postcards From New Brighton, Bull’s avatar depicted himself alone in a strangely deserted version of the normally crowded city.

For the Brighton Photo Fringe 2020, Bull has appropriated his own series, made exactly ten years ago, in order to reconsider the work in the context of 2020.
