Wonder Reimagined
Emma Livingston
“The clearest way into the universe is through a forest wilderness.”
(John Muir)
The simple act of looking at Nature can be a journey in itself. Being present in Nature for me is a means to escape from the stresses of daily life. I find looking at the movement of water instills sensations of fluidity and vitality. The dance of leaves and branches in a breeze inspires in me a sense of trust, of letting go, of resilience and serenity. The patterns in Nature’s details remind me of images of the Earth from above, or a starry sky on a dark night.
Here Microcosm and Macrocosm intertwine.
These images are a means for me to recreate an atmosphere, a vision of memories that emerge when I think of the ocean, a drop of water, a woodland, or a tree bark.
In a world of constant digital distraction, I am interested in creating spaces of silence, stillness, mystery and magic which allow for meditative introspection, mindfulness and reflection; and consequently perhaps open a path for reconsidering the importance of our natural environment.
