இருவரின் வாழ்க்கை, எல்லையற்ற அன்பு (Two lives, boundless love)

Sneha Soodamani

My documentary is a dialogue between my parents and myself through visual and textual records. It showcases our feelings during the pandemic and its impact on our respective lives. The parallel design depicts our individual lives as we navigate through the lockdown, experience the associated challenges, and overcome them together, one day at a time.
When I came to London in September, I had made up my mind that I would not go home before June. But in the wake of the looming pandemic, my urge to go home and be with my family emerged, only to grow stronger as days passed by. I could no more be at one place at any given time. While I was physically in London, my mind kept oscillating between Mumbai and London. My attention was divided into two as I equally worried about my family and friends settled in Mumbai and the newest members of my personal tribe, here in London. Suddenly, it occurred to me that, every moment I was in two places, trying to be as close as possible to the people I care for.

Artist biography

My love for photography started at a very young age when I laid my hands on my grandfather’s film camera in my dad’s cupboard when I was around 10 years old. I was so fascinated with it and dad showed me all of grandfather’s photos. Grandpa had taken photos of Mumbai of yore, friends and relatives. The photos were black and white and beautiful, I immediately found a connection.
The most important thing my whole life has taught me is that never give up on your dreams. When you set your mind and heart towards something and you start doing everything to make it happen, there is nothing that can stop you.
