A Moment of Peace

Matt Goddard

Time and space to connect with ourselves and our surroundings is a precious commodity that is often overlooked. By seeking these valuable moments of serenity we are able to discover a truer feeling of personal identity and sense of place, something I believe we could all do with a little more of in our lives.

By exhibiting work from humble locations across Sussex and the UK's South Coast, I hope to demonstrate that beauty and moments of peace can be found by all in even the most unlikely of places; be they riverside reflections, interesting colours in nature or the absolute silence experienced on a snowy day by a calm sea.

I hope the escapism I find in my photography and surroundings is experienced in some small way for those visiting this online exhibition

Artist biography

Photography has been in Matt’s life since being gifted a film camera on his 21st birthday. However, as is often the way, a catalyst encouraged the move from an office-based career to a rather different type of office – the great outdoors. The catalyst was Crohn’s, diagnosed in 2016, and the realisation that his health and happiness needed something other than the daily grind.

In 2017 it was farewell office, hello outdoors, bringing photography to the fore.

Matt prefers to enjoy solo photography outings; creating a feeling of peace & tranquillity in his photography that counters the increasing intensity of the commercial world we live in.
