Detritus

George McLeod

Detritus was born from the twin frustrations of lockdown halting all planned projects, yet litter still somehow being dropped in abundance on my street.
With no idea of the final output, or indeed the hygiene implications, I started to collect, scan and record what I found. When I realised these colourful misshapen objects could be turned into something beautiful, the frustrations left me and I began looking for other sources of Detritus.

Artist biography

I built my first darkroom in my dads attic when I was 16 and went onto study photography at Nottingham Trent Uni, graduating in 2003.
For many years I strayed from the photographic path, but over the last five years have put all my spare time into shooting fashion editorials.
However, in 2019 I rediscovered my true love of fine art photography, and during the pandemic induced lockdown made the decision to fully focus my time into producing photographic based art.
