Human/Non-Human/Inhuman

Lee Mackinnon

This exhibition draws on work for a forthcoming book project. The book explores intersections of labour, race, gender and ecology. Central is a critique of ideas around 'non-human agency', an idea deemed to be the theoretical luxury of the few. The agency of the 'non-human' is considered a veneer for a global labour system that perpetuates inhumanity and inequality. Using found images, these photomontages reflect today's reliance upon human labour, despite the invocation of slick digital interfaces.
