Photography Acts - Hangleton Primary School

Leap Then Look

These photographs were created by pupils of Hangleton Primary School in Hove during a one day socially-distanced workshop in the school hall. Three year-five classes took part. Each were given a different instruction from the project to respond to - USE WHAT'S AROUND YOU TO CREATE AN IMAGE, MAKE AN IMAGE YOU WANT TO TOUCH AND PLAY WITH THE LIGHT - along with a selection of materials, lights, lenses and camera phones. They worked in small groups with incredible enthusiasm, thoughtfulness and imagination. This is a selection of the many hundreds of brilliant images they created.

Artist biography

Leap Then Look is a collaboration between British artists Lucy Cran and Bill Leslie. Together we create artworks, participatory projects, workshops, and events for people of all ages and abilities. Our aim is to inspire playfulness, inquisitiveness, and experimentation, using unconventional multi-disciplinary approaches, including object making, performance, installation, film, and photography. We believe that contemporary art practice should and can be a positive force in people’s lives and that we can all benefit from engaging with new ways of looking, making, and thinking.
